Our Story
Honoring the Past, Building the Future
Gary Barclay started Midstate Communication Contractors (MCC) in 1987, with just copper splicing services. MCC expanded to fiber splicing and started on projects across the United States. At the time, fiber splicing was brand new, an innovative technology with MCC leading the way.
Not surprisingly, many banks thought this business model was risky and did not want to take a chance on investing in MCC. But, Gary’s father, Jack Barclay, believed in the model. Jack sold the family farm to bankroll MCC in its early days. That investment in Gary and MCC catapulted the business, and eventually the banks came around — even making Gary the literal “poster child” for business banking success on their billboard campaigns.
Gary’s son, Seth Barclay, joined the family business and expanded their services into the Underground Construction industry. Under the Barclay family’s leadership, MCC has grown from two guys and two trucks to what is now an 80+ person team with a fleet of vehicles, full time mechanics, and office staff.
